The Bucket Bag

bucket bag-3I wrote in my last Fashionomics newsletter that fashion trends take a while to digest and assimilate into our wardrobes. Sometimes I have to read about a trend, then see it in the stores and then gradually accept it. This is exactly what happened to me with the bucket bag. I loved theway they looked and even featured bucket bags as a major trend in my newsletter last spring but I just could not bring myself to take the plunge. I am accustomed to carrying totes and bags that open at the top so that you can see everything inside. I can also carry everything but the kitchen sink which makes it really heavy. I was shopping at NorthPark this summer making some additions to my wardrobe. I was not searching for a bag but I always have to look in Henri Bendel. They carry the coolest, high quality accessories and handbags for a very reasonable ┬áprice point. Well there it was, up on the shelf and I just had to take a closer look – the bucket bag. I just happened to know that I would be needing a new black purse for fall and this one was not only black but on sale – 50% off. I bought it knowing I had a week or so to return it, but of course I kept it in the beautiful signature brown and white stripe bag from Henri Bendel – so classy. As fall rolled around I pulled out my new bucket bag and made a commitment to carry it. At first I was not a fan because I had to dig around for things because the opening was not as wide as my totes. However I got so many compliments and found it really practical for everyday and now I am really liking it a lot!!!
