My daughter, Roxanne, is expecting a baby girl in May. Sloan Virginia Sheehan. We are all very excited and can’t wait to meet her. Roxanne and I are both blessed with so many wonderful friends and as a result there were two really fun baby showers this spring. One was thrown by her sister Victoria, sister-in-law Tara and several other close friends of Roxanne’s. That one was at my house and these girls did such a beautiful job. The other shower was thrown by a group of my friends at the home of one of the hostesses. We had 22 hostesses between the two showers and wanted to give a really special thank you gift. We looked at a few of our usual options (like a candle or note cards) and decided on the Big O Key Ring for several reasons. I met the two moms who started O-Venture recently and was so impressed with everything they make that we thought this would be a fun and practical gift supporting other moms who are entrepreneurs . Janie Cook and Caroline Nix decided women need to “Carry Only What You Need” and that makes a lot of sense to me. I’m obsessed with my Big O Key Ring (tickled pink of course)!!!
Roxanne and I decided to get the SilicOn O Rings for her friends because they are considered the spOrt version and can also double as a teething ring!! Very practical if you love to work out or have a baby who is teething or just needs something safe to play with while mom is running errands. She decided to get a variety of colors and let the hostesses choose. I had already given my girls the Big O Key Ring for Christmas in their stockings so I had to find a new color for Tara and Victoria. We got the “blue me away” for Tara because Hunter could not have a pink one!! The most popular was “gOld cOnfetti” and then of course 2 shades of pink because Roxanne is having a girl – “i scream pink” and “cOttOn candy“. Thank goodness my daughter-in-law Tara was in town to help me wrap these hostess gifts. What a mess we made with glitter ribbon and confetti. I have to tell this funny story, one of the guests thought these were party favors since I left them in the dining room because I thought they were so pretty. Well off went Tara’s blue O Ring. So off to Swoozie’s I went to get another one!!
The girls did such a lovely job of taking over my house and preparing for a beautiful celebration. Short Stop in Snider Plaza for finger sandwiches, fruit and veggie trays, Trader Joe’s for flowers and cheese platter; adorable mini cupcakes from Susie Cakes. I thought it was so clever to write notes and advice to Roxanne and Sloan on the baby diapers. Roxanne has them ready to pull out for humor and encouragement when Sloan arrives. Confetti, balloons and adorable monogrammed bubbles from Old Navy made the cutest girly decorations!!
The biggest hit of the party and the weekend was my grandson Hunter. After the shower on Sunday we decided to take him to Dallas Blooms at The Arboretum on Monday. What a glorious day and he loved his new teething ring – the Big O Key Ring!!! Hunter is ready to meet his first girl cousin, Sloan. He lives in Memphis so we all love any chance we get to see him!! He is changing so fast. I am hoping he will want come to Dallas a lot to visit Dee Dee and Popi.
The second shower was given by a group of my sweet Chi O friends plus Ann and Sandra and held at the home of Susan Holman. Susan has decorations for every holiday that are over the top so this was a perfect weekend to have this baby shower with a theme. Lots of bunnies and Easter decoration. No detail was left out and it was so much fun. We had lots of friends and family to help us celebrate baby Sloan. And of course the hostess gifts for this shower were “tickled pink” Big O Key Rings because it’s a girl and I got one for myself. I am totally obsessed with it and can’t imagine how I lived without it!! You are hands free and never lose your key ring, especially if it’s hot pink!!! I have to give a shout out to my friend Nicole Brewer who co-owns Smocked Auctions and has the cutest children’s clothes ever!! I know Sloan will be living in her cute outfits.
So much work and so many wonderful details go into planning and executing a shower. Roxanne and I are so very grateful for all of our friends who have so generously given parties for baby Sloan. The food was delicious, the company extraordinary and the gifts so much fun to see. We are anxiously awaiting this new addition to our family’s arrival. Her due date is May 16 and the out of town kids are trying to figure out when to come home to meet Sloan. It was sure easier when Hunter was born because Tara had a scheduled C Section. (easier for us but not Tara). We are continuing to Fully Rely On God for His perfect timing and provision. So we are waiting and can’t wait to meet Miss Sloan!!
Lynn Sheehan (Roxanne’s mother in law) and I were so thrilled that are moms could both attend. I want to thank you all for reading and I will keep you posted on Sloan’s arrival. This blog has been a labor of love because so many good friends were involved in throwing these amazing and beautiful showers. The photographers were my daughter-in-law Tara and my friend Martha Parks. I am so grateful to both of them for taking such great photos. I have come to appreciate my blog photographer Mary Hafner even more because I have had a heck of a time trying to edit these photos. It has taken me literally 6 weeks to get this done. I want to thank the girls at O-Venture for helping us with the hostess gifts. I know there are a lot of new Big O Key rings running around town. XO Debby
