Happy Tuesday!! I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was kind of boring because my husband went to his lease and I had intended to get so much done but alas, I was so tired from last week that I was dragging. On Saturday I went to a really fun event with my cute Chi O YA group and we made flower arrangements with the help of The Arrangement Project. On Sunday I got to babysit Sloan for a while and that really brightened up my weekend. Last minute I went to NorthPark to return some shoes and meet my friend Cathy for a try on session at Anthropologie. I am not the best blogger in the world but thought I should make an effort to participate in the first ever LTK day. (10 retailers gave a discount for LikeToKnow.it shoppers for one day only). Today lets talk about summer dresses for all occasions.
SUMMER DRESSES FOR ALL OCCASIONS
In my opinion there is nothing better than a great dress in the summer, especially if you can wear it for all sorts of occasions. The dress I am wearing is one of those. It is so comfy that I can travel in it, I can dress it up or down by changing shoes and accessories. This style is great with the little faux wrap tie in front, very flattering. Unfortunately I let myself get so behind on my blogs that this JMcLaughlin dress is sold out but I will link several others that are just as cute. I am talking about dresses for showers, brunches and maybe a casual day time or beach wedding.
Adding a blue jean jacket is always a good idea in my opinion because even when the temperatures are soaring outside it is usually freezing in restaurants, movies and especially airplanes. I have kind of an unintentional collection of jean jackets that fit differently. I like this more fitted one for a dress. ( I think it was actually a hand-me-down from one of the girls!!) I just bought a cute white jean jacket from Gap. You will find a lot of cropped jean jackets these days which are great with dresses and skirts because they don’t overwhelm your look. I am not a fan of the latest trend in oversize jean jackets.
ADD A BLUE JEAN JACKET
Shoes and accessories can always change the look and feel of an outfit. I chose these really comfy wedges from JMcLaughlin but you could add a neutral dressier sandal. I fell in love with their collection of bamboo bags and thought the top handle was perfect for this dress. I couldn’t resist adding a touch of turquoise for some summer fun and of course I can’t go out without sunnies. (these earrings are from one of my fave local designers Harper Hallam. You can find her jewelry at Tootsies)
DRESSING IS IN THE DETAILS
Dressing is in the details!! You know that I am a huge fan of JMcLaughlin and have enjoyed shopping there this spring with my clients and for myself. For a small specialty retailer JMcLaughlin has a lot of accessories that provide all of the details you need for everyday, dressing up and travel. You will find some more items here and here in previous blogs.
