Spotlight on ‘Elizabeth Gillett’
I am excited to introduce you to a fantastic designer from NYC, Elizabeth Gillett. When Elizabeth lost her favorite scarf, she designed her own which resulted in orders from Barney’s New York and The Whitney Museum Gift Shop. She has been designing and selling her crafts since grade school and has a gift for entrepreneurship. She studied painting at Hardwick College and moved to NYC. Nearly 20 years later, the Elizabeth Gillett brand has evolved into a diverse accessories resource with global reach. Every Elizabeth Gillett piece is a mix of exclusive prints, impeccable fabrics and artisan embellishments. You can find her scarves and tunics at Tootsie’s, other stores and online.
Elizabeth is a breast cancer survivor and donates samples to SHARE (share cancer group) and other local and international charities. She also designed a scarf to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation. Elizabeth hosts student group tours to learn about entrepreneurship, merchandising, design and business. I am looking forward to my next trip to NYC and meeting Elizabeth in person. It has been a pleasure to communicate with her and highlight some of her pieces in my Mother’s Day Newsletter for Fashionomics. I am in love with all of the pieces I will share with you today. I agree that scarves are the ultimate accessory. They bring color to the face and can hide a multitude of sins!!! www.elizabethgillett.com
