Happy Tuesday and I hope you are having a great summer so far. We have plans to stay Dallas for the Fourth of July and get together with friends. July is a really busy month for Bill at work so we stay close to home. I do feel like when July 4 rolls around that the summer is almost over. I guess since I was a teacher when I got out of college I always feel like summer is sort of sacred and I see the rest of the year in semesters!! I am excited to tell all of you that I was recently accepted into the Reward Style program and am looking forward to working with a purpose and a plan. I have several blogger friends who are associated with it and love it. I am feeling a little overwhelmed and yet can’t wait to get started. We will just have to see how it goes. It will be a new experience for me. I’ll keep you posted!!!
Now lets talk about seasonless dressing!! Who doesn’t love to be able to wear several pieces in your wardrobe any time of the year? That’s what I call smart shopping a creative wardrobing. When I was shopping at Saint Bernard Inwood Village for my blogs in May I found these great pieces from Rebecca Taylor. I have featured this floral blouse in two other blogs recently and I hope you aren’t tired of seeing it by now. I showed it in Flower Power with blush jeans so you could visualize wearing the blouse several ways. I love having a great piece in my closet that can transform several outfits. When I saw this navy vegan leather ruffle skirt I just had to show it to you. I love leather for all seasons and featured my favorite faux leather flare pants recently for summer because these new fabrics are so light weight. This skirt is great for spring and summer or you could add opaque hose and a boot or bootie for fall. Ruffles are all the rage and this skirt it adding some sass to your look.
Now you see I am introducing you to a third piece. I always say that an outfit needs that third piece to be complete. It may be a jacket, sweater or vest that pulls everything together and gives you that finished look. This rule may not always apply in summer when we are trying to stay cool and lighten up. This bouclé jacket is a great reasonless piece that could be worn with white jeans in the summer or more serious outfits in the fall. A jacket like this is reminiscent of Chanel and Carl Lagerfeld who gave everyone permission to wear these typically serious jackets with jeans. He really opened up a new style and more casual, yet pulled together way of dressing. I call this divorcing your suits. It is much more fun and economical to be able to wear an important item in more than one way. Wardrobing at it’s best. Fashion + Economics = Fashionomics. (couldn’t resist!)
I hope you can see the detail in this confetti tweed jacket. It has all of the colors in the blouse and can be worn so many ways. I love the weight for our Texas weather. It is the perfect length for skirts or pants and is so easy to throw on over a blouse or t-shirt. It would also look great over a simple sheath dress. If you check out the Saint Bernard website they have styled this jacket with a white crew neck t-shirt and denim jeans. When a jacket has a pattern and several colors and even better some texture, you can be sure you will get your money’s worth out of it!! I will say that a collarless jacket like this style is easier worn with a crew neck or scoop neck (or even a turtle neck) so that it coordinates with the neckline of the jacket. The good news is that it took me so long to write this blog that these pieces are on sale now. Time to shop Saint Bernard for some great summer bargains on quality merchandise!! Did I mention that each of the pieces could be worn a million different ways? That’s what I love about the versatility or being able to mix and match separates!! Happy summer and thanks for reading! XO Debby
