On The Dot Spring Trends – Polka Dots – Mixing Prints – Sheer Illusion

over 50 blogger wearing Alice and Olivia polka dot skirt and top

Can you believe it’s already Wednesday?? I am having trouble adjusting to this time change. I have been bleary eyed all week. Or maybe I am tired from cleaning out my garage last weekend. Roxanne’s idea for Bill’s birthday gift but guess who had the most stuff to get rid of? Me of course!!! Why do I still have scrapbooks and letters from High School? How can I be a professional organizer and be this far behind in my own life??!! It’s never too late to clean out and lighten up so I am on a personal roll here. I’d rather be transferring my closet and getting ready for Spring. I’ve been to my favorite store Tootsie’s again and have some great fashions to show you. These are on the dot spring trends for sure. Alicia and Olivia has elevated polka dots to a new level and mixing prints is their specialty. Throw in a little sheer illusion for a feminine touch and you are ready to roll. Did you know that matching sets are back in style??

ON THE DOT SPRING TRENDS – POLKA DOTS

I think polka dots are really fun and so easy to wear. I have found them most easily in black and white but I love the mix of colors in this Alice and Olivia skirt and top. You know I have written about bow blouses before and think they are so easy to wear with skirts, pants, jeans and fill in nicely when you wear a jacket. Mixing of prints is a trend in designer fashion where unique patterns reign. This trend has trickled down to be more affordable but  the mixing of prints and patterns can be a little tricky. Polka dots are one of the easiest prints to mix as you can see from some of the fashions I have linked for you today. The sheer illusion adds a feminine touch for dressy or casual looks.

Summer is coming and you will be thankful for the sheer illusion trend when you want your arms covered but in a light weight fabric. It’s the perfect combo and solution to covered up sexy. Or show a little more if you want. A little sheerness in the skirt is also a great flirty way to wear sheer fashions.

If you ever want to know what’s in style just check out the designer runway shows. When I was looking around for some items to show you some of the most gorgeous examples of mixing patterns and prints were expensive labels. That lets me know that this is a solid trend a I found some more reasonably priced items for you. My friend Rusty Grimes who worked for Neiman Marcus and was the master at mixing prints would get mad at her husband when he tried. Not the same,(Tom Grimes sure was cute though) dangerous business this mixing prints. Also prints are a great way to break up your basics. Dressing is in the details like these blue Illesteva sunnies, sapphire geometric Lele Sadoughi earrings and love the pop of red in the Elena Ghisellini top handle bag. Red is big for spring!!
