Let’s Talk Pearls

I had such an amazing experience during NYFW but getting together my wardrobe was stressful. I waited until I got to Connecticut for my Labor Day retreat to do any serious shopping. Roxie and I went to Greenwich, CT which has a fabulous selection of stores that are smaller but well curated. Of course, I ended up in Zara and found a few key pieces that I love. It seems I am always on a budget and need to “get the look for less”. My husband says my business is a “not for profit”!! Well, he just does not understand the need to update your wardrobe on a regular basis!!!  Anyway, I had actually already checked out the selection at Zara on the day I arrived in NY but I was too tired to shop. Now I was ready and could focus on the trends I wanted to embrace for Fall 2017. I love all of the pearl details  I am seeing everywhere. I found the cutest top and pant that I actually love wearing together. In fact I am kind of afraid to wear them now because after I post on social media I feel like my outfit is old news. “Here she comes again in that pearl outfit!!”

This has become one of my favorite outfits and the easiest to throw on!! It is so comfortable, the cropped pants hit at the waist and stretch (side zip), the top could go under anything, and I can  add a jacket if needed. I love the pearl detailing and decided it was not too much to wear it all together. I found these shoes at Lord & Taylor (huge sale going on right no by the way) because I was looking to embrace the white shoe trend. I am not sure I will go all out for white boots like my friend Heather Anderson, but these were enough of a step out for me. They are a bit unusual with the cut out and pearls. This year I have braved it in red booties and now white (really cream) pumps for fall.

I was very excited to be able to attend the Kate Spade presentation during NYFW and I decided to wear this outfit. Even though it wasn’t Kate Spade, I thought it kind of looked like her style. It was really fun to see her upcoming Spring Collection and experiencing the New Orleans style party at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station was a treat. I wanted to prove that I had been there so I asked this nice guest to pose with me. You can see the show in the background. I am also obsessed with her Kate Spade Larsa Dress from the Madison Avenue Collection and featured it in my September Issue Newsletter. I guess I was a stalker of sorts!!! I also got to visit the Bauble Bar headquarters with my fellow blogger Cathy Williamson and we had a fun lunch at Fred’s Madison Avenue at Barney’s

You can tell the above shots were from my camera and not as great as the professional photographer we hired, but I wanted to show you a few of the fun times we had on our girls trip to NYFW. As you can see I wore these pearls all over town. I did not wear these heels all day; I had flip flops in my bag and mainly walked in those. I will say we walked a lot!!!! I guess you can tell that I am a bit behind, as usual, because I am still writing about New York Fashion Week. The good news is that it finally feels like Fall in Dallas. Today is especially cool and crisp. Yay!!! I thank you all for reading and hope you will send me some ideas and comments. I promise a blog on packing efficiently for a trip is coming up soon. I am heading to Fredericksburg this weekend for a wedding and am really looking forward to a little retreat with Bill and  friends celebrating one of our favorite couples.
