Happy Wednesday and First Week of Spring. I had a really fun week last week. My daughter and her husband who live in Dallas stayed with us for a few days because their floors were getting redone in preparation for the arrival of Sloan Virginia Sheehan in May. We never get to spend that much time with them because they live in town. Then my daughter in law Tara brought Hunter to visit from Memphis. Now that is such a treat because we had not seen him since Christmas and the difference from a 5 month old to an 8 month old is Huge!!! So I’m posting today in coordination with my blogger buddy Cathy Williamson of The Middle Page. We always have so much fun when we do a post together so we decided to make this one a challenge. Where can we find an outfit for around $100?? Cathy suggested H&M so we headed to NorthPark to shop and found several things we liked. The winner was this floral dress for Cathy (plus handbag and shoes) and a plaid jacket and pant for me with the matching blouse. (By the way everything we chose is now on sale!!) I guess we should plan a lunch date and wear our matching ensembles!!! Be sure to check out Cathy’s post for her outfit details, wisdom and insight!! You will love her style and great sense of humor!!
I had a blast on this shopping spree with Cathy. She has been my blogger guru since she talked me into writing a blog and I cannot ever thank her enough for her patience with my ignorance and stream of questions. We met by chance at a luncheon (well maybe Elizabeth Carlock meant to seat us together) and have been fast friends ever since. The bonus is that our husbands like each other too. It is always more fun to have a partner in crime when working on a project. As I walked to the back room of H&M I spotted this jacket and pant on a mannequin. I love mixing prints when appropriate and thought this floral blouse was a perfect match to upgrade the outfit. I think the key to mixing prints is either a common color or a small pattern mixed with larger print. It is always easy to mix a subtle plaid like this, a stripe or a polka dot with a print like a floral. It is an art and not always as easy as it sounds to pull it off!!! Beware!! Or call Fashionomics for help putting your wardrobe together for Spring 2018.
True confessions, there was a Theory double breasted blazer that I was watching on sale at Tootsie’s. It never went below $350 and I was so sad. When I saw this very similar blazer at H&M for $49.99 I was shocked and thrilled. It is very well made and I just couldn’t believe it. So Cathy got stuck with the floral dress because I was obsessed with this plaid blazer and the mixing of prints. The test for a double breasted blazer is that it looks flattering open or closed. Love the cropped trouser that you can wear with heels or flats and still look fashionable. I would have loved to include an updated slingback with this pantsuit. H&M actual has quite a selection of shoes and accessories at such an unbelievable price point.
I am thankful that we are having the most beautiful weather in Dallas this week. I hope wherever you live, it will be coming your way soon. Happy Spring and if you don’t have your Easter dress yet, I have some suggestions in this blog post. As always thank you for reading and following my fashion posts!! You’re the best!! XO Debby
