Happy Wednesday and I hope you are having a great summer! It is officially half way over and I’ll bet you still have some summer weddings and parties to attend. I love weddings and all of the festivities that go with celebrating a special couple. If you are not familiar with Maggy London dresses you have to check out their website and you will absolutely love their fashions for special occasions. Most styles are available in sizes 0-16 and they also offer some styles in petite and plus sizes. I am wearing a size 4 in these dresses so I would say they run pretty true to size since I am a 4 or 6 depending on the manufacturer.
I have to admit that when I look in my closet for a dress for a special occasion my choices are mainly black. The other color that seems to show up as a trend for me is coral. So, of course I was immediately attracted to this style and color when scoping out the Maggy London site. I was blown away when I received my dresses and tried them on. The quality of the fabric, lined I might add, and this color is just over the top fab. I am obsessed with this Harper One Shoulder Midi in Pink Punch. Then add the scalloped edges and you have the perfect cocktail dress for a wedding guest or shower or any summer party. I think it would be really pretty for a rehearsal dinner for the MOB or MOG. One of my favorite parts of being a wardrobe consultant is dressing moms for weddings and this dress is quite a find. I am obsessed with it and can’t wait to wear it to the next party on my calendar!! Did I mention that it is $138?? I wish you could see it in person – gorgeous and it looks like it costs a lot more!!
The first time I tried this Callie Asymmetric dress on I knew I was going to be wearing it a lot of places. I am a huge fan of navy as an alternative to black and I really like this geometric pattern that has a bit of a “travel the world” flair. The asymmetrical hem is floaty and perfect for dancing the night away. I love it dressed up with heels for a daytime shower or evening cocktail party but I may also wear it with flats for an outdoor lunch or beach wedding. This dress is knit (and lined at the top) and is super comfy and fits like a glove. I like the V neckline and the shoulders are cut in just a tad which is very flattering!! You may just see me wearing this dress all of the time and I am for sure taking it on my trip to Connecticut next week because I already know it will be a dream to pack!!! And the best part is the price – $128. Can you believe it!! I like these price points a whole lot and I can assure you of the quality!! I love this Kimmy Asymmetric as well and almost picked this Kara Jumpsuit.
Some of My Favorite Dresses
I always say that dressing is in the details; like the subtle scalloped edge , great color and the asymmetrical hem and fab print in these styles. A great dress can take you a long way and you can always change it up with on-trend shoes, accessories and the perfect clutch or evening bag. Do not be in such a hurry that you forget to plan out your ensemble ahead of time so you look very pulled together and you won’t keep your date waiting because you know just what to wear. A quick word about Maggy London – a brand that “works hard to design beautiful, timeless styles that empower women and make them feel confident when they wear one of our dresses! We have a feature on our blog called Women Who Make A Difference and each month we shine a spotlight on the amazing women that work tirelessly to make their communities and our world a better place! It’s become a really popular series and we’ve had the opportunity to feature some incredible women.” I am very impressed that a fashion brand is also interested in featuring real women who are giving back and making a difference out in the world.
I always want to thank you for reading my blogs especially in the summer when there is no real schedule and everyone is traveling and trying to entertain kids. Bill and I had a fun trip to Mexico, then I went to Memphis for Hunter’s first birthday. Sloan and Roxanne went too and it was a successful and uneventful flight with a baby thank goodness. Next week we are heading to Fairfield, CT to spend a week with all of our kids near my friend Roxie and her family. So you can see why my blogs have been a bit sporadic this summer and I have a funny story to tell you if you will stay tuned. Look for my Instagram post on this blog to hear more about my summer escapade behind the scenes on this blog shoot!! Have fun, safe travels and stay cool. XO Debby
