I have been wanting to write this blog for a while about the recent return to the Western trend in denim. The December issue of InStyle featured Julia Roberts on the cover with a bolo tie and turquoise jewelry. The inside article showcased Western style at it’s best from denim shirts to “cowboy boots” and some really cool hats. The November issue of Modern Luxury featured an article on the Resort Collection of Dior called Big House on the Prairie. So if these articles show anything it is that this season we will be seeing an updated fashion version of the Western look. That means denim, turquoise, boots and prairie prints and dresses. Each designer will interpret the trends as he/she sees them but you can rest assured that you can dust off your cowboy boots, bring out the turquoise jewelry and wear denim on denim. That used to be one of my rules, never wear denim with denim, well forget that, these days anything goes. I have a great opportunity for your shopping spree, don’t miss the $350 Nordstrom raffle below. Sign up to win!!
I have always loved turquoise jewelry and I really don’t think it ever goes out of style. It is such a pretty color near your face and it is a great accent to almost any color from denim, to white to orange; and of course black. I have collected several pieces over the years and still love wearing them. I bought these earrings on the square in Sante Fe, the ring somewhere in Colorado and the bracelet was a really inexpensive find at Francesca’s. I am partial to this color of turquoise that is more blue than green. There are many versions and I saw a white turquoise cuff at Round Top that I still wish I had purchased. One of those shopping regrets due to budget!! I love the pieces that are signed by the Indian artist like my concho belt. I bought this belt many years ago and will keep it forever. No editing on this piece in my closet. If you are ever interested I found several beautiful concho belts at a variety of price points at AllTribes.com.

Now lets talk denim!! These days denim is for all occasions and most designers have embraced it as a main staple in almost every collection. As our lifestyles have become more casual and less structured, denim has taken on many roles in the fashion wardrobe. I have always loved a flare jean. As I have written before when you wear a heel this style makes your legs look really long. It gives you a really balanced look with the wider leg jean. I love wearing boots and this bootie was a gift from my kids one Christmas. I was having a hard time finding brown but have loved wearing this pair from Sam Edelman. I have to admit that I cannot part with my fave denim shirt from Tory Burch that I have had for several years. I do wish she would make it again. Jean jackets are easy to find and the one I am wearing is so fancy, Old Navy. I love that it has some stretch and is very comfortable and fitted. Fringe was a huge trend several seasons ago and has stood the test of time. It is fun and I think this bag I borrowed from Victoria is fab.
