A New Look at Cocktail Dressing

It’s Friday again and I am happy to report in with another great outfit from Tootsie’s. This is a bit dressier than my recent posts and is a fun look for evening or cocktail for you gals who prefer pants to dresses. This black two piece number by Cinq á Sept is chock full of current trends; yet I would say has a very timeless quality as well. I fell in love with the details in the designs by Cinq á Sept on one of my trips to NYC. I always like to check out Bergdorf’s first thing and this designer instantly caught my eye. My friend Roxie and I were looking around and both noticed the most amazing blouse with incredible detail in the back. I don’t see many things that really grab my attention but Cinq á Sept certainly has a unique look that I love. I was delighted to discover that Tootsie’s carries this line.

Black is classic. Black is flattering. Black is elegant. Black is powerful. Black is basic. Black is glamorous. Black is sexy. Black says evening. Black is more than basic. Black is classy. Black is always in style. Black is always appropriate.  Black is my all-time favorite, can you tell???? I do love color and navy and also white pieces in my wardrobe, but there is nothing that I love more than black. I admit that I have collected a few pieces for cocktail and evening that I consider timeless and will keep for many years. They are all black!!! Now I do know that some of you may prefer a softer version of black like navy or even silver or gold for evening. Black may not be the most flattering on every single one of you but I am going to have to say it is my very favorite so I am going to talk about it today. This outfit is especially great because it is two pieces. You know I love wardrobing and finding many ways to wear the items that I invest in. This top and bottom can be worn together or separated for different looks and occasions.

Let’s talk about the trends encompassed in this top for Spring 2017. The choker collar is so flattering yet really open so it looks like you have thrown a scarf around your neck and are hopping into a convertible in The French Riviera. You all know that the peek-a-boo shoulder is very in and can be seen everywhere. This one shoulder is especially flattering and as I have mentioned before, baring your shoulder is very sexy and a safe way to show some skin without revealing too much. This is especially alluring because it is a one shoulder top and very cool!! The bell sleeve is on the list of most up to date trends and this is not over the top floaty but just enough to give you the flare. Smart and clever designers who love women and know how to flatter a woman’s body know how to use ruching, flat pleats and draping in all the right places. The one area of my body that I hate is my stomach. So I love this camouflage of my weakest area. The asymmetrical draping of this top is perfect and I love the ties which are also being utilized in many tops these days. I think this one shoulder, one sleeve look is so cool and very dressy. Baring just a little bit leaves something to the imagination and is very alluring.

I told you earlier that I love this line for the details. This ensemble is so simple and elegant yet carries the trends with ease. I think the slit in the front of the pant showing a little skin and this minimal shoe is very chic. It is the surprise as you walk that catches the eye in what could be just another well fitting black trouser. This pant is figure flattering with pizazz. I love these very simple black sued sandals by Pella Moda. You have seen me wearing them in nude and you really can’t go wrong with this style. My clients always ask me if they can wear suede in spring and summer. Yes!!! This line is one of my favorites when finishing off the outfit for my client because they are super comfortable and come in a variety of heel heights for day and evening. I have had lots of luck with ladies who have difficult feet to fit. You may have noticed that this outfit is so stunning on it’s own that I didn’t add much jewelry. But the earrings we found are “spot on” and fabulous in my opinion. A great pair of “head turning” “Insta worthy” earrings is all you need this season. Check out the dazzling designs by Roni Blanshay. You will just have to visit Tootsie’s in person because I am sad to say I cannot find these earrings online to link. That just means they are all the more valuable and you won’t see anyone else wearing them. I love the concept and unique designs.
